Mathematics Tuition & Mentorship

Mathematics Tuition & Mentorship

Syllabus Covered: A-Level, GCSE, IGCSE

Most students find maths difficult due to a lack of practice and a misunderstanding of concepts. By not having the confidence to do well in a subject and continuously struggling with questions, this leads to a vicious cycle of poor academic performance. To break this cycle, our maths mentor guides students to work on questions appropriate to their knowledge level. This way they can build their confidence and ability gradually, before solving harder questions. Hence, a strong foundation built by maths tuition is key to guide students in achieving a strong academic grade.

Wilfred - Mathematics Mentor

Hi I’m Wilfred! Having taught 50+ students for A-Levels, IB and GCSE, I am a committed tutor and a past teacher at a UK top 25 independent school. Previously I achieved A* in Mathematics, and A in Further Mathematics at my GCE A-Levels. I also hold a 2:1 BSc. Economics degree from the London School of Economics (LSE) which involves statistical modules. I strive hard to motivate my students by gradually building up their confidence in Maths.

Mathematics can be a difficult and boring subject for students. Hence it is important to enable students to feel a sense of achievement, when correctly solving maths problems on their own. They say Asians are good at math but that is not true without hard work! Of course, I do my best to keep lessons interesting with the occasional joke/banter, and share how maths is useful in the long run.

Teaching Experience

Apart from teaching at a top UK independent school, I am a dedicated full-time Maths and Economics tutor. I have experience with maths tuition for GCE A-Levels, GCSE and IGCSE. What I find really rewarding is the camaraderie I share with my tutees, and my success in increasing their confidence and motivation towards the subject.

My students generally improve by 2 grades given sufficient contact time and hard work. I have tutored students from top schools including St. Paul Girls’ School, Merchant Taylors’ School and Hampton School. I believe one of the reasons why 95% of my students continue to have a second lesson with me, is the fact that I received tuition for 12+ years of my life. Hence, I understand how it feels to be on the other end of the table.
